New Mastering-Grade Processor Brings Intelligent Impact Control to Audio Production
PUNCH, the latest dynamics processing plug-in from Zynaptiq, delivers sophisticated impact and contour control for individual tracks and full mixes. The processor leverages Zynaptiq's expertise in source separation and frequency domain processing to provide precise dynamics shaping.
Intelligent Processing Architecture
The plug-in employs two distinct algorithms - CRYSTAL and SMOOTH - which analyze audio using advanced statistics to apply precise dynamics contouring. The CRYSTAL mode utilizes 10 minimum phase bands, while SMOOTH mode processes audio through more than 100 bands for detailed control.
Versatile Applications
PUNCH processes audio components separately, allowing users to add everything from short transient snap to extended attack compression. The processor maintains effectiveness even on heavily compressed material where traditional transient shapers might struggle.
The frequency-dependent processing can be fine-tuned using the BIAS functionality and visual hover menus. Users can enhance presence, adjust mid-range character, or reduce over-compression artifacts while maintaining transparency.
Technical Capabilities
The plug-in supports up to 16-channel operation for immersive audio workflows. Additional features include zero-latency processing, optional 64-bit processing depth, and a scalable vector interface with up to 200% zoom. The output stage offers both oversampled and multi-band clipping options.
Pricing and Availability
PUNCH will be released on January 15th, 2025, with an SRP of USD 169/EUR 179 (including 19% German VAT where applicable).
An Early Access program runs from December 23rd, 2024 through January 14th, 2025, offering the plug-in at USD 79/EUR 89. Early Access users receive the full license and will transition to the final version through a standard update.
PUNCH supports 64-bit AAX Native, AU, and VST 3 formats on macOS 10.15 or newer (Intel & Apple Silicon) and Windows 10 or newer. Protection is handled through PACE, requiring a free iLok account.
