XLN Audio Releases Hip Hop and Gospel ADpak for Addictive Drums 2 - AUDIO PLUGIN NEWS

Yamaha 9000 Recording Custom Kit with Four Snares and Custom Cymbal Configurations

XLN Audio has released the Hip Hop and Gospel ADpak, a new expansion for Addictive Drums 2. The pack features a Yamaha 9000 Recording Custom kit recorded at Riksmixningsverket in Stockholm.

Kit Configuration

The ADpak centers on the Yamaha 9000 Recording Custom kit, chosen for its clarity and tonal range. The configuration includes two kick drums (20x16" and 22x14"), four snares, and five toms ranging from 8" to 16". The 20x16" kick provides tight definition for pocket grooves, while the 22x14" offers increased punch and low-end response.

Four snare drums cover different sonic territories. The Yamaha 14x3.5" Brass SD4939 piccolo delivers a crisp attack. The 14x5.5" S-Series Maple provides warmth and body. The 14x6.5" Recording Custom RAS1465 aluminum snare adds presence in dense arrangements. A Canopus 12x6.5" Maple Gold Sparkle snare handles accents and fills.

Cymbals and Custom Configurations

Istanbul Agop cymbals from the Xist series make up the cymbal selection. The 15" Xist Dry Dark Brilliant hi-hats provide articulation for intricate patterns. Three ION crashes (16", 18", and 20") offer varied impact options. An 18" Xist ION China sits between bright and dark tonalities, while the 20" Xist Raw Ride balances definition with wash.

The pack includes three custom cymbal configurations. A custom hi-hat pairs a 10" XIST Dry Dark hi-hat with a 10" Turk splash for a focused, dry sound. The Big Stack layers a 12" ION splash, 10" Trash Hit, and 13" Dry Dark crash. The Small Stack combines an 8" ION splash, 10" trash hit, and 10" Turk splash.

Production Team

The ADpak includes 99 presets created by industry producers. Contributors include Trevor Lawrence Jr., known for developing the Clap Stack technique, The Pocket Queen, mixing engineer Josh Gannet, and producers Mai, Omari Jazz, Ron Got The Recipe, and Orenji Soul. Each contributed presets reflecting their production approaches.

Recording took place at Riksmixningsverket, a Stockholm facility founded by ABBA's Benny Andersson.

Pricing and Availability

Hip Hop and Gospel is available for $89 USD. The ADpak is compatible with Addictive Drums 2 and can be purchased as part of bundle collections. A companion Hip Hop and Gospel Beats & Songs MIDIpak, performed by Diamond Johnson, is available separately.
