Waves Audio has unveiled IDX Intelligent Dynamics, a new intelligent frequency-dependent compressor designed to instantly optimize track energy and punch with minimal user input. The plugin features smart algorithm technology that automatically identifies and compresses problematic frequency areas while enhancing important sonic characteristics.
The standout feature of IDX is its ability to deliver professional-quality results through an streamlined interface centered around one main control knob. The plugin uses "progressive attenuation" to compress only the busiest frequency ranges that consume energy without contributing to an instrument's core tone, allowing essential elements to cut through the mix more effectively.
"IDX has this capability of knowing exactly where to add punch and energy to my mix. As soon as I put it on the sonic, I'm pretty much there," says Oak Felder, producer for artists like Demi Lovato and Ariana Grande.
Key features include a Quick Match control for instant input/output level balancing, Hard and Soft compression modes for different response speeds, and a Tilt control for adjusting bright versus dark tonal balance. The plugin also includes a zero-latency version for live sound applications.
