Globe-Based Interface for Cinematic Loops and Regional Sounds
Pitch Innovations has released Sonic Atlas, a sample library plugin featuring world music sounds organized through an interactive globe interface. The plugin launches with three expansion packs focused on Indian musical traditions.
Interface and Playback System
The plugin centers around a globe interface that allows users to select sounds by geographic region. Each expansion pack contains melodic loops, rhythmic patterns, and one-shots recorded by musicians from specific cultural backgrounds.
The sampler engine uses a 3-octave piano layout. Each octave is mapped to different sound categories: rhythms, melodies, or one-shots. Samples can be played individually or as full loops.
Processing and Effects
Sonic Atlas includes four macro controls: Reverb, Delay, Drive, and Compressor. Performance effects include Reverse, Half-Time, Double-Time, and Stutter functions for real-time sample manipulation.
The plugin features time-stretching that allows transposition to any key while maintaining audio quality and groove timing.
Launch Content
Three expansion packs are available at launch:
Bollywood Gold features dhols, tablas, dotara, rabab, mandolin, and banjo. The pack focuses on melodic and rhythmic elements from Indian film music.
Desi Dance combines sitar, flutes, tablas, and Indian percussion with electronic production elements. The pack targets contemporary EDM and club-oriented productions.
Punjabi Pulse includes dhols, folk flutes, and tumbis, drawing from Punjabi folk traditions and modern global production styles.
Collaborators
The sample libraries were created with contributions from musicians and producers in the Indian film and music industry, including flautist Naveen Kumar, drummer Ranjit Barot, tabla player Sai Shravanam, and sitarist Azad Khan.
Pricing and Availability
Sonic Atlas is available as a free download with limited preset access. The Complete Suite includes the plugin and three expansion packs for $99 (regular price $237). Individual expansion packs can be purchased separately. All content is royalty-free.
