Softube has released 'Bad Speaker', a plug-in that reproduces unique Lo-Fi speaker distortion.
This product aims to add a unique character to your production and sound design, making your sound solid and shiny with a hint of ‘dirt’.
Bad Speaker includes three unique speaker modes: 'Portable Radio', 'Cassette Deck', and 'Hi-fi Speaker', each providing a unique sound.
Portable Radio mode emulates the 'worst' Lo-Fi speakers, and the sound of them collapsing when driven hard makes for an interesting experience. Cassette Deck mode recreates 80's gear for tight bass and growling midrange sounds. Hi-Fi Speaker mode emulates great-sounding speakers playing in the room.
Users can exaggerate distortion with the Drive slider, and adjust the track's stereo field with the Stereo slider. You can also easily adjust the overall sound balance using the Tone slider.
Additionally, Bad Speaker can be added to the internal section of the company's Console 1 and Amp Room, allowing Lo-Fi effects to be added to the equipment and plug-ins.
The regular price of Softube's Bad Speaker is $59, and it is currently being sold at a discounted price of $19 to commemorate its release. Detailed information can be found on the Softube website.
