Free Beta VST/AU Plugin Creates Unique Overdrive Models
Sampleson has released rePEDAL, an experimental machine learning project that generates unique overdrive pedal models through artificial intelligence. The free beta plugin creates new random overdrive characteristics each time users click the REMAKE button by dynamically restructuring its neural network.

The plugin offers essential controls including drive amount, gate function, and post-gain level, along with the ability to save preferred models. rePEDAL provides an HD interface and focuses on exploring new creative possibilities in digital audio processing rather than replicating existing hardware.
Technical Implementation
rePEDAL is available in VST3 format for Windows and both VST3 and AU formats for Mac, supporting most major DAWs except Pro Tools. The plugin runs natively on Apple Silicon and Intel processors, requiring macOS 10.7 or Windows 7 and later, with 4GB RAM and 100MB storage space. For optimal results, Sampleson recommends running the plugin at 48kHz sample rate.
Sound Design
The plugin can generate diverse tonal characteristics, as demonstrated by its varying effects on sine wave processing. Each new model creates distinct waveshaping patterns, offering users an endless palette of overdrive textures.
