Intelligent Frequency Matching with Automatic Resonance Cleanup
Rast Sound has released MS Studio, a Mid/Side-aware tone matcher with automatic resonance cleanup. The plugin analyzes reference tracks separately in Mid and Side channels, creating independent correction curves while preserving stereo width and center focus.
Mid/Side Processing Architecture
MS Studio processes Mid and Side channels independently, allowing the center image to remain focused while maintaining spatial information. Users can drop a reference track or select from 24 factory presets spanning genres including Balanced, Pop, Rock, EDM, and specialized profiles for vocals, drums, and instruments.
The plugin captures approximately 10 seconds of audio to analyze the source against the reference. MS Studio generates Smart curves showing separate Mid and Side corrections, with automatic resonance reduction applied to harsh frequencies.
Control Parameters
The interface provides Match % control to determine how closely the source follows the target curve. Independent Mid/Side level faders adjust the balance between center and space. Width control modifies the stereo field, while Side HP maintains bass in mono and cleans the sides. Tilt EQ offers quick dark/bright adjustments without recalculating curves.
Additional features include Band Styles with Gentle and Standard modes for different matching intensities. The Smart/Target toggle allows instant A/B comparison between the calculated correction and the reference. Users can capture their source once and audition multiple target references without re-capturing.
Applications
MS Studio works on mix and master buses, vocals, and individual instruments. The plugin includes controls for Res Cut % to adjust automatic resonance reduction, Side Attack, and Mid Tape for additional tonal shaping.

MS Studio is available for €129 (€79 introductory offer) in AU, AAX, and VST3 formats for Mac and Windows. The plugin supports macOS 10.13 or higher (including Apple Silicon) and Windows 10/11.
