KORG Collection 5 is a software collection that perfectly recreates KORG's legendary synthesizers that have shaped music history. This package encapsulates 60 years of KORG's history, which began in 1963 as Keio Electronic Laboratories and has led innovation in electronic instruments.
The collection begins with the miniKORG 700S, KORG's first synthesizer from 1973. This compact and portable model was a crucial milestone that established KORG as a synthesizer manufacturer. The MS-20, released in 1978, opened new horizons in experimental sound design with its unique filters and patching system, and its distinctive sound remains beloved to this day.
Entering the 1980s, KORG led the digital revolution. The Polysix (1981) offered groundbreaking features with its 6-voice polyphony and built-in effects, while the M1 (1988) ushered in a new era of digital synthesis. Combining PCM sound sources with synthesis capabilities, the M1 became one of KORG's most successful models ever.
In the late 1990s, KORG achieved another breakthrough with the TRITON. Becoming the centerpiece of music production in the 2000s with its powerful sampling capabilities and expandability, the TRITON later evolved into the TRITON Extreme, which introduced vacuum tube processing. The collection also includes the WAVESTATION with its vector synthesis technology and the Prophecy, a pioneer in physical modeling synthesis.
KORG Collection 5 has optimized these historic hardware instruments for modern music production environments. Using CMT (Component Modeling Technology), it perfectly reproduces the unique characteristics of each analog synthesizer, while the digital models include all original expansion cards and sound banks.
