Focusrite has acquired Innovate Audio, a UK-based immersive audio company.

The acquisition of Innovate Audio, known for its panLab spatial audio solution, is seen as a move to strengthen Focusrite Group's strategy in immersive audio, following their previous acquisition of TiMax.

According to the announcement made on the 27th (local time), under the acquisition agreement, the panLab solution will join the TiMax brand. This allows TiMax to offer the market's most comprehensive immersive sound solutions, ranging from entry-level panning software to full delay-matrix spatial processors and performer stage tracking systems.

The panLab product line has gained popularity among sound designers worldwide and is used in renowned venues such as the Sydney Opera House and the National Theatre. panLab 3 offers a QLab-compatible spatial audio mixing solution, while panLab Console provides an object-based audio workflow utilizing existing consoles.

Tim Carroll, CEO of Focusrite, stated, "With this acquisition, we now have the most complete lineup in the industry, from affordable simple panning to the most advanced TiMax solutions. This perfectly aligns with our mission to deliver outstanding audio experiences in live and installation environments."

Dan Higgott, founder of Innovate Audio, will also join TiMax as a senior product developer. Higgott said, "Our spatial audio products now have a new opportunity to thrive by integrating with a world-class brand. We will provide an exciting new product roadmap for the TiMax product family."
