Mexico City-based developer Ear Candy Technologies has released Phonograin, a granular processing plugin for Windows and macOS priced at $75, with a free demo available.
Phonograin is built around five proprietary granular modes — Glichy, Short, Dynamic, Robotic, and Brilliant — each changing the behavior of the granular engine. Key parameters include Size, Rate, Offset, and Pitch, controlled via two XY pads. An Ambient module adds six sound sources to the signal path: three environmental sounds (Wind, Sea, Rain) and three noise textures (Brown, Pink, White). A Sidechain module provides rhythmic amplitude modulation synced to BPM at multiple timing divisions. A dedicated Effects module offers Reverb, Phaser, and Flutter, each independently activated.
