New Synthesizer Plugin Features 28 Oscillators and SuperDrift Modulation Engine
Hahmo DSP has released SuperClassic, a synthesizer plugin inspired by the Roland JP-8000's legendary Supersaw oscillator. The instrument combines classic analog-inspired sound design with modern DSP technology to deliver the signature wide stereo leads and pads that defined the golden era of dance music.
Advanced Oscillator Architecture
SuperClassic features 28 oscillators per voice, organized into four SuperClassic parts with seven band-limited saw oscillators each. The ToneShaper feature provides access to the signature keytracked highpass filter, recreating one of the defining elements of the original JP sound. The plugin supports up to 32-voice polyphony through a SIMD-optimized DSP engine designed for efficient CPU usage.
SuperDrift Modulation System
The plugin introduces SuperDrift, a proprietary modulation system that assigns each oscillator its own independent LFO with golden-ratio frequency offsets. This creates non-repeating motion that produces the analog-style width and warmth characteristic of the original hardware while maintaining digital precision.
Filter and Envelope Design
SuperClassic includes six classic filter modes covering LP12/24, BP12/24, and HP12/24 configurations with accurate JP-8000 resonance mapping. The filters support selectable 2x/4x oversampling to maintain clean highs without aliasing. Envelopes are modeled after the original JP-8000 for authentic filter response and timing characteristics.
Built-in Effects and Control
The plugin includes tape-style delay, basic EQ controls, and an open preset system with XML saving capabilities. Additional features include glide and legato functionality within a streamlined interface designed for fast workflow integration.

SuperClassic is available as VST3 for Windows and macOS, and Audio Unit for macOS, with CLAP and AAX support in development.
