Advanced Stereo Control and M-S Processing Tool
PSPaudioware has released PSP stereoController2, a plugin designed to control and adjust stereo imaging in dual-channel recordings. The plugin addresses issues including unbalanced stereo images, time alignment, channel polarity, and stereo width adjustment.
Stereo Processing Capabilities
PSP stereoController2 provides up to 2ms of delay for repairing microphone distance mismatches up to approximately 68 cm (2 feet). Width expansion extends up to 400% for narrowly recorded stereo tracks. The plugin includes a stability balance control that adjusts side channel levels without affecting center content localization.
Dedicated controls for low and high frequency bands allow independent width and gain adjustments. This enables reducing stereo width in low frequencies for mono bass compatibility or widening high frequencies for increased spaciousness. Low and High band gain controls provide up to ±6dB adjustment.
M-S Decoding and Monitoring
The plugin decodes Mid-Side encoded tracks into L/R stereo. Output monitoring and solo capability for Mid and Side signals assist with analysis and processing. A correlation meter and balance meter provide visual feedback of the stereo field.
Channel Controls
PSP stereoController2 features channel swap, polarity switches for both channels, and standard balance control. A center control adjusts panorama location of center content. Master gain control offers up to ±12dB range. Parameter filtering provides smooth, click-free parameter adjustment.
The plugin supports sample rates up to 384 kHz and is available in AudioUnit, AAX, VST, and VST3 formats for Windows, macOS Intel, and macOS Silicon.
