Gretsch White Falcon 1959 Virtual Instrument with Riffer 4 Engine
Ample Sound has released Ample Guitar WF, a virtual instrument based on a Gretsch Vintage 1959 White Falcon hollow body guitar. The library includes separate finger and pick sample sets with 12 articulations covering sustain, palm mute, natural harmonic, and various performance techniques.
Sampling and Performance Features
The 6.9 GB library captures sustain, palm mute, natural harmonic, hammer on and pull off, legato slide, slide in and out, pop, pinch harmonic, dead note, mordent, and tap articulations. Polyphonic legato and slide smoother technology handles transitions across any interval and speed. Drop tuning is supported down to D1, and the library includes authentic left-hand performance noises.
Riffer 4 MIDI Editor
Ample Guitar WF features Riffer 4, a MIDI editor designed for plucked instruments. The strumming and chord system uses "Strum Notes" that treat multiple sub-notes as single editable objects, controlling strum time, velocity gradient, and legato parameters together.
The editor offers dual view modes with real-time switching between Piano Roll and Guitar Tab views. String visualization in the Piano Roll prevents polyphony conflicts on the same string and assigns fingering automatically. Full MIDI import and export maintains identical playback results across formats.
Additional Tools
The Strummer feature detects and selects chords with customizable strumming patterns. A rhythm library is included with MIDI drag-and-drop support. Tab Reader 4 imports Guitar Pro files from GP3 to Guitar Pro 8, transferring fingering, articulations, and performance data into Riffer.
Built-in effects include an 8-band EQ, compressor, delay, and convolution reverb. An AMP simulator with cabinet and mixer options is also included.
Ample Guitar WF requires macOS 10.15 or later, or Windows 7 to Windows 11 (64-bit). The plugin supports VST2, VST3, AU, AAX, and standalone formats. Over 20 GB of disk space is recommended, preferably on an SSD. More information is available on the Ample Sound website.
