Heritage Audio has released a plugin version of the legendary LANG PEQ-2 Program Equalizer, bringing this rare and coveted analog tool to the digital realm. Known as the "Transistor Pultec" due to its foundation on the same patented Western Electric design, this equalizer has been a carefully guarded secret weapon for the lucky few who own the original hardware.
After successfully relaunching the physical LANG PEQ-2 hardware in 2022, Heritage Audio has taken the next step by creating a plugin that faithfully captures the unique characteristics of this classic piece of equipment.
A Powerful Yet Deceptively Simple Design
The LANG PEQ-2 features an intuitive layout that belies its sophisticated capabilities. The equalizer offers independent controls for both Boost and Droop (Cut) on the High and Low bands, allowing users to create unique tonal shaping that maintains musicality even with extreme processing.
One of its most distinctive features is the ability to boost and cut at the same or similar frequencies, producing creative equalization curves that open up new sonic possibilities.
The plugin includes a Low Shelf boost and cut control, High Shelf cut, and a High Peak Boost with fully variable Q (Bandwidth) settings ranging from Sharp to Broad. The Boost range intelligently varies based on the selected Bandwidth, ensuring a smooth and natural response regardless of settings.
Industry Recognition
The plugin includes presets designed by renowned audio professionals, including American record producer Joe Chiccarelli, whose credits include work with Elton John, The White Stripes, The Killers, and many other notable artists. Producer and sound technician Nico Astegiano has also contributed presets, bringing over 20 years of industry experience to the plugin.

Heritage Audio has implemented what they call "The Heritage Audio Way" with a straightforward pricing model. The LANG PEQ-2 plugin is priced at $99.00/€99.00 and comes with a 14-day demo trial. Current owners of the LANG PEQ-2 hardware will receive the native plugin for free, while i73® PRO owners will receive both the native and DSP plugin versions at no additional cost.
