RV Audio Design Introduces Disseptor: Phase Distortion Plugin for Sound Design

Advanced Phase Manipulation and Asymmetric Distortion Processing

RV Audio Design has released Disseptor, a phase distortion plugin that combines all-pass filtering with asymmetric distortion for creative sound shaping. The plugin features five adjustable all-pass filters that provide control over phase and delay characteristics of frequencies, along with dual asymmetric soft clipping algorithms.

Phase and Distortion Architecture

The core of Disseptor consists of five all-pass filters that can be adjusted in frequency, bandwidth, and intensity. At higher intensity settings, these filters create audible delay effects that smear transients and enhance punch. The filtering section feeds into two distinct distortion modes, with one offering more aggressive processing. The asymmetrical distortion generates even harmonics associated with warmth-enhancing characteristics.

Technical Implementation

Disseptor employs 16x linear phase oversampling to minimize aliasing artifacts. A built-in DC blocker removes any offset caused by the asymmetrical processing. The plugin also features automatic gain compensation to maintain consistent output levels.
