Native Instruments Unveils Cremona Quartet: Historic String Collection - AUDIO PLUGIN NEWS

Authentic Sampling of Four Legendary Italian String Instruments

Native Instruments has introduced Cremona Quartet, a comprehensive string instrument collection featuring meticulously sampled sounds from four historic Italian instruments dating back to the 1600s. The collection captures the authentic tones of precious string instruments crafted by renowned luthiers Antonio Stradivari, Giuseppe Guarneri, and Andrea Amati.

Historic Instruments

The collection features Stradivari's 'Vesuvius' violin from 1727 and 'Stauffer' cello from 1700, Guarneri's 'Prince Doria' violin from 1734, and the Amati 'Stauffer' viola from 1614. These instruments were recorded in Cremona's Auditorium Giovanni Arvedi under strict security due to their exceptional value and historical significance.

Recording Process

The sampling process utilized 32 microphones positioned throughout the concert hall to capture every nuance. The recordings took place in the purpose-built Auditorium Giovanni Arvedi, designed by architect Giorgio Palù with acoustician Yasuhisa Toyota, ensuring optimal sound capture of these rare instruments.

Key Features

The collection offers phase-aligned stereo samples with chromatic articulations and advanced parameter controls. Users can mix close, mid, and far mic positions and access 20 different articulations including long, short, expressive, dynamic, and special variations. The innovative modeling system provides real-time control over virtuoso vibrato performances.

The Cremona Quartet is available in two versions - Solo and Ensemble. The Ensemble version simplifies orchestral arrangements with its Auto Divisi feature and real vibrato samples for sustain and marcato articulations.
