Cakewalk, the DAW acquired by Bandlab, has officially become a paid service with its new versions Next and Sonar, and is included in the Bandlab Membership.

According to a press release from Caldecott Music Group (CMG) on the 13th (local time), Cakewalk Next is now ending its beta service and officially launching as a paid service. CMG is a new company brand expanded by Bandlab itself in 2021.

With this, the Cakewalk Next, which can be used on both Windows and Mac, can be accessed through the Bandlab Membership at $14.95 per month. Additionally, the Windows version DAW Cakewalk Sonar, which succeeds the free DAW Cakewalk by Bandlab, is also included in the membership.

Cakewalk by Bandlab can still be used for free and is installed separately from the newly released Cakewalk Sonar. However, it will not receive future updates.

Meanwhile, the Bandlab Membership offers its own online DAW and sound libraries, online mastering, as well as music distribution, promotion, and revenue generation through Bandlab's social features.

The price for the Bandlab Membership subscription is $14.95 per month or $149.5 per year with a 16% discount for the annual subscription. More details can be found on the Bandlab website.
